Encouragers are the ones that we all want and need to cling to. They not only bring positive to our life, they add TO the positive in our life. And once we have positivity flowing, we should nurture it, feed it, and secure it.

But when we are forced to deal with the opposite, how do we keep our focus? How do we not let their poison seep into our blood? How do we not let it affect our attitude, thoughts, and behaviors? Our heart? Or, how do we not let our own poison start manifesting? Everything just got so complicated all of sudden. Am I right?

Well, God. That’s how! We can’t change them, their actions, motives, or their circumstance; but we can change and control ours! And that is great news!

Lately, I’ve had to really think hard about some negativity that has crept into my thoughts; self-doubt, insecurity, and fear have all tried to blow out my light. But what if I let it? What if I chose to let those negatives take control of the encourager inside me? Would I not be writing this blog? Even silence from others can feel jolting and bring on insecurity. But when I bring it all back to God – His kindness, discernment, wisdom and clarity – He continues to keep me focused and confident on my purpose; and that’s to share the gospel, my story, and to be an encourager — even when I’m my own. So today, I’m thankful for my encouragers, and those who inspire me with hope!

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8
