This one is for the young girls. The girls that want attention. The girls that feel more validated by every “like” and comment they receive. The girls that are trying to measure up to the others. The girls that purposely show their assets in pictures, just at the right angel; to cause interest and mystery. The girls that need filters.
It’s like a drug; attention. The high you feel by every interaction on your pics, or the looks you may receive in public. And once you feel that high, there isn’t anything that can break you from it….or is there?
I like thumbing though Pinterest and looking at random quotes that spark bible verses. It’s kinda a hobby of mine. There’s a lot of truth in those random quotes. One in particular struck me personally this evening.
I’ve always been a girl that needed reassurance and validation. I wasn’t the best at reassuring myself, so I blindly looked for it elsewhere. Anyone that would take my unintentional bait in my pathetic scheme, never knew exactly how insecure and pathetic I really was. Like drugs, seeking attention can ruin lives. And when getting that attention from the wrong person, it can most definitely ruin relationships.
So, here’s the quote ~
You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches. Dita Von Teese
And here are my connecting bible verses ~
For there is not anyone righteous, not even one. (Romans 3:10) For we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23). But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8).
Wondering how I connected these? The key word is “world”. You can have the looks, the money, the power, the intellect, or anything and everything else this world provides…but it doesn’t mean anything in Heaven. And if you do have any of those things, no one will love you the way Jesus does. Ever! No one will save you from this world, like Jesus can. Be hated because of your love for Jesus, and not because of your worldly things.
Be a peach…but I hope it’s a peach for God. He is nothing but love. And He wants to give you the gift of grace because of His love. Be beautiful because of Him!
Who are you attracting and why is it worth it? If it’s to gain attention, are others “likes” and comments more valuable to you than God’s?
And please don’t think I’m not guilty…because I once was, and I still need that conviction almost daily. I am, and will always be, a saved sinner. Thank you, Jesus!
