I’m thinking of Heaven this morning. Do you ever wonder what it is like? I do. When I see the beauty in God’s creation, I feel that I am experiencing glimpses of it. And the more I look, the more I see it. And the more apparent Heaven is all around us, constantly!
As most of you know, I love sunsets. It’s my favorite time of day. Mostly because to me, it’s the most beautiful time of day. But, that is God. God is beautiful. The strokes of His proverbial paintbrush displaying His deity. His control and power. It gives me a sense of awe and security. True awe. True security. We find many things awesome, but only God can define the meaning of the overused word.
The crashing of water from a waterfall. The brilliant green in the trees and grasses. All the colors of the rainbow displayed in butterfly wings, birds feathers, and flowers. Have you ever realized how amazing it is that we get to see it? Experiencing it through sight? Our eyes see it, and it does something truly incredible to our hearts and in our minds. It’s calming, breathtaking, exhilarating. God’s artwork.
Snow highlighted on mountain peaks, the antlers on a deer, the pattern of a cheetah’s coat. The way a hummingbird can fly while motionless in midair. The contrast between ocean waves on white sand. Overwhelmingly awesome, when you really think about it all. Countless daily miracles we witness.
But beauty in creation doesn’t stop at the obvious. All beauty that is seen doesn’t necessary have color and esthetics. Some beauty is in action: kindness, love, joy, service, gratitude, a smile; just to name a few.
Imagine a world without hate, jealousy, pain, suffering. A world that doesn’t include war. Not just between nations, or battles in relationships, but peace! No more worry and fear. No more burdens and disparity. Hunger and thirst.
Heaven. It’s not just a place of wonderful scenery, but a place our hearts and minds are truly at peace and rest. Surrounded with nothing but true love that is only found in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
God is in everything that is good, working and creating. Fighting our battle against the lies of the devil. God is in everything that is wonderful and beautiful. The world we live in is the opposite. God shows us pieces of heaven, constantly, when we take the opportunity to look.
